Introduction to Linux

March 24, 2006

Free linux book by Brandon Chisham. This book is intended as a practical guide to the Linux operating system for those with a moderate amount of technical experience.

Book Description

My intention is to make this book as friendly to the beginning user as possible. If you are already a Unix uber-geek, then this book will likely be boring to you although it has been my experience that many times those who have been using *nix systems for a long time are often less familiar with the available (Graphical User Interface) tools than those who began using those systems after GUI’s became commonplace, full-featured, and easy to use.

Table of Contents

  • What is Linux
  • Why Choose Linux
  • How to Acquire & Install Linux
  • The Graphical Environment
  • The Command Line Environment
